A second chance to watch Grimonprez’ 1997 historiographic hijack. For this occasion, dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y is presented together with Towers Open Fire, an experimental cut-up video piece which challenges the fascism of conventional narrative forms. Written by William Burroughs, Towers Open Fire showcases his obsession with the dystopian outcomes of technocratic control. Pairing these two films, we are following the intuition of writer and artist Tom McCarthy, who in 2015 highlighted how dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y and Towers Open Fire’s anthropological angle informed the writing of his novel Satin Island.
