In Double Take, Hitchcock meets his doppelganger during the filming of The Birds. This meeting unleashes a twisted journey of fear and paranoia. Grimonprez uses Hitchcock’s 1963 film to reflect on the mediatic commodification of terror. Those irrational and blood-seeking birds are perhaps an allegory for the irruption of television, which Hitchcock celebrated, for it had brought back murder to the home, “where it always belonged”.
